Lifestyles People
Barbara Daly
“I love being able to write about people and places in San Joaquin County. Through my video production company, Daly Video Services (www.dalyvideoservices.com), I have had the privilege of meeting and writing about some of the area’s finest citizens and organizations.
My articles with San Joaquin Lifestyles Magazine have been a wonderful extension of that. I feel blessed to know so many terrific and caring people in this community. My husband is a reporter at News10 and our daughters went to St. Mary’s High School. Nearly a day goes by that we don’t have a ‘Six Degrees of Separation’ experience!”
Laurie Eager
“I was born and raised in the San Joaquin Valley. I earned a BS in business administration from UC Berkeley, put my husband through medical school, and then spent the next 20 years raising 4 great kids. With all of them in college now, I have time to pursue new creative endeavors. I work part-time as an interior designer.
I especially love dark chocolate, all things French, my high school sweetheart, setting a beautiful table, skiing, growing a vegetable garden, travel, Delta sunsets, reading, the mountains, cycling, and cooking.”
Yuki Tripp Ogawa
Yuki is excited to rediscover and revisit, through her lens, her native San Joaquin Valley for San Joaquin Lifestyles Magazine, after a long absence. Raised in Stockton, CA (Lincoln High School, Class of 1993) Yuki went east for over 10 years for both school and work, but ultimately left the cold to earn a M.S. at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA. She currently resides in Redondo Beach, CA.
Matt Davies
Matt Davies is the owner of Le Bistro, a 30-year-old fine dining institution in Stockton. As a member of the Court of Master Sommeliers, he presides over the most extensive and diverse wine list in the San Joaquin Valley. With an
emphasis on French, Italian, and California wines, the list has been recognized by the Wine Spectator with its “Award of Excellence.” His personal favorites are red Burgundies, Brunellos, and a few select California Pinot Noirs.
J. Michael Rivera
A Stockton transplant, J. Michael grew up among the row crops in the fertile Salinas Valley. After honing his skills on bicycles, skateboards and the occasional soap box derby, he moved on to the world of motorized vehicle. As a reporter in Monterey County, he attended the Skip Barber Racing School at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and was a regular at the Concours d’Elegance.
Although J. Michael comes from a long line of hot rod buffs and gearheads, he has a general appreciation of any mode of conveyance that will propel him away from his home office.
Michelle Machado
Michelle Machado is a lifelong San Joaquin County resident and a University of the Pacific graduate. She was a stay-at-home mom for 17 years before becoming a newspaper reporter and editor. Now a freelance writer, Machado is an avid reader of 19th and early 20th century literature. She also enjoys gardening, cooking and practicing yoga.
Mary Raffetto
“As a UOP graduate and longtime resident of San Joaquin County, I take special delight in the privilege of writing about and for our community. Blessed with enough passions and interests to last several lifetimes, I love sharing these with others: health, fitness, nutrition, cooking, skiing, diving, running, gardening, floral design, entertaining and more. Best of all, I am lucky enough to enjoy these, and all of life, with my two wonderful children, family and friends!
Ivan Moore
Ivan was born in Tracy and raised in the foothills. He now lives and works in Stockton. He mostly writes food and savor stories for Lifestyles, but also enjoys writing about art, music, and beer – and our valley has plenty of those to write about.
Joan Heffernan
“Stockton is home to me. I came here as a bride (from Manteca!); Michael and I raised our children here. When I explain why I love Stockton, it is always for the same reason. It’s the people. I could never replace the friends we have here. They are pure gold. Writing for Lifestyles is a treat. I love to write, and describing events or places I’ve visited gives me a chance to share the experience and relive the excitement.”
