Enjoy Local Activities
Once again I am reminded of how much the Sassman and I enjoy living in the San Joaquin Valley. Recently the weather has warmed up, and already there is so much to do outdoors, while those who live east of us are still digging out from the snow, hunkered down from too much rain, their yards still bare. We have cherries on our trees, azaleas and roses in full bloom, and the Farmer’s Market is packing in the produce.
This past month has offered great events! So far I’ve enjoyed the Asparagus Festival and the AHA Go Red for Women Luncheon – motivated by their speakers, and bought a much-needed purse at their vendor boutique. We babysat our grandson!
The Children’s Home Garden Fair at Baer Ranch – my staff joined me this year. I’m always so proud to have them go with me to events… and spring is just not spring without attending the Stockton Symphony Pops Concert. It was a blast!
The Delta breeze did not hamper the warmth of the sunshine at the UOP vs. Fullerton baseball game at Klein Field. If you love baseball, this was great fun… and as the Tigers’ season winds down, remember the Stockton Ports!
That, too, is great baseball (and hot dogs) all summer long. Won’t it be fun to take our grandson next year? Congratulations to our awesome Thunder for a great season, and a 209 shout-out to our man of the year, Dallas Braden! Amazing!
The Lincoln Center Sidewalk Sale, UOP graduation and the Lodi Street Fair – all were fun and well-attended. The Sassman and I enjoyed a wedding at Morris Chapel, followed by a reception at Alder Market, while a very popular Sip n’ Stroll was happening outside on the Miracle Mile.
The Rain concert at the Bob Hope Theatre was a throwback to high school days, and a reminder that music from the ’60s and ’70s was the best ever – with the exception of Carrie Underwood. Love, love, love her, and just bought tickets to the September concert at the Arena! San Joaquin, let’s pack the house!
This was all within one month, all in San Joaquin County, and there was still so much we missed! Probably because we were playing with our grandson!
I think I’m going to be one of those obnoxious grandmothers…
