Marshan Moultry
I am: Marshan Moultry
Age: 35
Occupation: Pastor of Worship Arts Ministries at Quail Lakes Baptist Church
Town in which I currently live:
Stockton
My hometown: Marin City
How long I’ve lived in San Joaquin County:
Fifteen years
What I like most about San Joaquin County: I love its diversity and wonderful food!
The people who mean the most to me: My family and church family are very dear to me. They have both formed and shaped the man that I am. I am grateful and honored to know them.
Favorite SJ County place to take friends when they come to visit: The Stockton Arena and Fox Theatre, great dramatic and musical productions at Stockton Civic Theatre, University of the Pacific and Delta College. I also just love strolling down the Miracle Mile.
A key event in my life and the impact it had on me:Serving in Kenya with Compassion International. While there, I had the chance to see the two kids I sponsor. I had no clue how that was going to affect me. I remember being so nervous, walking off the bus and awaiting “my kids”. As soon as they saw me they ran to me, hugged me… and just held me for a while. My heart was a complete puddle. I witnessed how hard life is for the Kenyan people. They taught me how important it is to be grateful. I am overwhelmingly thankful and humbled by God for the opportunity to serve, even in this small way.
One thing I want to accomplish while I am able:
To have the bravery and faith to start a ministry to reach those who have felt like outcasts of society and those who feel unloved. All I know is that I have been given a call… when God knows that I am ready… I will walk into that next season of life… boy, this faith walk is something else!!
Favorite sports team: Now, I don’t follow sports, but to honor my mom I will say the 49ers!
Favorite vacation destination:
New York
Hobbies:
Fixing up my house
Favorite food/dessert:
Anything with sugar
I “give back” by volunteering with:
Compassion International, Better Aid for Africa Foundation and Quail Lakes Baptist Church
